InstaHike on the Rothaarsteig

Together with Sauerland-Tourismus e.V., we invite you to join us on Friday, June 20, 2025 for an InstaHike along the Rothaarsteig. As part of a 13-kilometre evening hike, we will explore part of the second stage between Willingen and Niedersfelder Hochheide and encounter some of the highlights of the trail.

A shuttle will take us from the parking lot at Berggasthof Wilddieb to the start of the tour at the Einkehrschwung ski and toboggan hut. From there, the route takes you up into the heights, which is why you should be as free from vertigo as possible. With a view of Willingen and through Buchenwald, we hike towards Richtplatz. There we join the main Rothaarsteig trail and hike along narrow, rooty paths to the highest mountain in North Rhine-Westphalia, the Langenberg (843 m). Continuing along the Rothaarsteig, we reach the fascinating nature reserve of the Niedersfelder Hochheide, the largest contiguous heathland area in NRW. On the Clemensberg in the Heid, we are rewarded with a 360° view of the Sauerland landscape. With a detour along the Kyrillpfad trail, we reach the Ettelsberg, where hopefully a magnificent sunset awaits us at the end. After sunset, we return to the parking lot at Wilddieb via a wide forest path.

Thanks to the kind support of our partner Tatonka, you can also look forward to a Tatonka gift for your hike. The number of participants is limited to 12 people and will be drawn by lot after the registration deadline on 02.06.2025.
