If you want to hike the entire 154 kilometers of the Rothaarsteig, you should have our hiking pass with you. Because for the entire trail, no matter how many stages, whether in one go or spread over a period of time, you will receive an original Rothaarsteig pin and a hiking certificate. You will also be entered into our prize draw at the end of the year, with prizes including a hiking rucksack and other items from our partner Tatonka.
This is how it works:
You get the Rothaarsteig hiking pass, online at www.rothaarsteig.de/prospekte to print out yourself or order it conveniently to your home. The pass is also available from local tourist information offices or Rothaarsteig quality businesses along the Rothaarsteig. You can then collect stamps on your hike by having the stages you have hiked stamped at the hotels, restaurants or tourist information offices along the Rothaarsteig. Once you have hiked the entire trail, send the stamped pass or a copy to:
Rothaarsteigverein e.V., Im Ohl 12, 57392 Schmallenberg or by email to info@rothaarsteig.de.
There is also a digital hiking pin for the Rothaarsteig and all Top Trails of Germany. Simply download the app from Summit-Lynx for your smartphone and pass checkpoints using GPS. It is important to switch on the GPS on your smartphone - you don't need internet on the way. When you reach each checkpoint, the app must be active and you can check in. This is how the system registers that you have passed the checkpoints.
