Great joy for the Rothaarsteig: the popular long-distance hiking trail is in the running for "Germany's most beautiful hiking trail" this year. The 154-kilometre quality trail, which leads from the historic Hanseatic town of Brilon in the Sauerland region to the Orange town of Dillenburg in Hessen, has been nominated in the multi-day tour category. The public vote starts on Monday, March 2 and runs until Tuesday, June 30.

"The nomination in the anniversary year is a great recognition for us and for all those who work with great commitment on its quality and further development," emphasizes Harald Knoche, Managing Director of the Rothaarsteigverein e.V. "The Rothaarsteig stands for impressive nature experiences, excellent trail quality and a special diversity along the route. We are delighted with every vote that shows how popular this trail is with visitors from all over Germany."

Sweeping panoramic views over the low mountain range landscape, dense forests, natural paths and exciting stops along the way characterize the hiking experience on the Rothaarsteig. Intense moments in nature and conscious breaks from everyday life make it a "path for the senses". As a certified quality long-distance hiking trail, it combines a natural route with an efficient tourist infrastructure, hospitable partner businesses and a consistent focus on quality. Whether it's a sporty multi-day tour with luggage transfer or an enjoyable stage hike - the Rothaarsteig offers a wide range of opportunities to actively and sustainably discover one of the most beautiful low mountain regions in Germany.

Hiking enthusiasts can cast their vote online in the voting studio of the hiking magazine at https://wandermagazin.de/wahlstudio. In addition, analog postcards are available in the tourist information offices of the municipalities along the Rothaarsteig, so that votes can also be cast in the traditional way.
