This hiking tip on the Rothaarsteig starts at the train station in Dillenburg. Take the train (HLB RB40) to Herborn and from there the 510 bus to the town hall in Breitscheid in 40 minutes. From there, hike back to Dillenburg via the Rothaarsteig.

Our hike begins in Breitscheid at the corner of Rathausstraße and Hüttenweg. Follow the access path marked with the yellow and black Rothaarsteig logo north uphill into Hüttenweg and continue along Gartenstraße. The access path leads over the tree-lined avenue up onto the Rothaarsteig to the refuge at the Wildweiberhäuschen parking lot. From there, continue to the right along the Rothaarsteig. Via Alte Rheinstraße and Stangenwaage, the Rothaarsteig leads up to the Kornberg with its magnificent views in all directions. Passing Donsbach, the route then leads via Meerbornsheide back to Dillenburg town center and the train station. This hike is 15.6 kilometers long and not too strenuous with only 170 meters of elevation gain.
