Our hike begins in Breitscheid on the corner of Westerwaldstraße and Kreuzweg. Follow the black and white Rothaarsteig logo of the Breitscheid cave tour in a westerly direction. Past the pottery museum and the church, the path leads into the Aubach valley onto the Rothaarsteig. From there, continue to the right along the Rothaarsteig down the Aubach valley. Shortly before Langenaubach, it is worth taking a short detour to the right into an old quarry, where the basalt columns of an old volcanic vent can be seen beautifully. From the Aubach valley, the path then leads up to the Wildweiberhäuschen rest stop, where you can enjoy refreshments on Sundays from April to October. Via the Alte Rheinstraße and the Stangenwaage, the Rothaarsteig leads up to the Kornberg with its magnificent views in all directions. Passing Donsbach, the route then leads via Meerbornsheide back to Dillenburg town center and the train station. This hike is 20.3 kilometers long and has an elevation gain of around 310 meters.
