From Schanze via the Rothaarsteig to Jagdhaus (public transport tour)

Rothaarsteig / Neusta Touren / From Schanze via the Rothaarsteig to Jagdhaus (public transport tour)
Special highlights of this Rothaarsteig hike, which many call a "fillet", are the suspension bridge on the Rothaarsteig and part of the sculptures on the Wittgenstein - Sauerland Forest Sculpture Trail. A wonderful hike with no gradients to speak of.

Information

Directions

The Ismo 466 line stops at the hiking parking lot at the entrance to Schanze. From there, simply walk a short distance along the road and after approx. 400 m you will come to the Landschaftsgasthaus Schanze 1. Leave this on your right and simply continue straight ahead. You are now on the WaldSkulpturenWeg, which is marked with a blue gate on a white background. You will first reach the Kyrill-Pfad. The rangers of the Landesbetrieb Wald und Holz NRW have created this path by hand to make Kyrill's consequences tangible for hikers on the Rothaarsteig for years to come. On this uncleared storm wood area in the state forest, you can experience the "force of nature peacefully" over a length of around 1 km via narrow steps and under fallen trees. The landmark of the trail, which is also very interesting for children, is "the ship's bow" on a splintered tree.At the same time, you will come across the "Crook" sculpture by Heinrich Brummack. A total of 2,613 kg of aluminum was used to create this sculpture, which is a landmark visible from afar on the path between Schmallenberg and Bad Berleburg.Continue along the WaldSkulpturenWeg until you reach the Rothaarsteig after approx. 1 km. Turn right here towards Jagdhaus and follow the Rothaarsteig markings (white, horizontal R on a red background). In addition to the sculptures "Kein leichtes Spiel" and "Stein - Zeit - Mensch", you will also come across the Rothaarsteig suspension bridge along the way. Explore life in the treetops as you walk across the suspension bridge and experience the forest from above!Continuing along the Rothaarsteig, you will reach the "Zinseseck" point and the "Millionenbank" before returning to your starting point at the Jagdhaus.
